Not for young audiences
I rarely get offended, let me start by saying. I did read several reviews on the show and was nervous about the content, and how different it was than her videos. I got to the venue and saw numerous "Mirfandas" in the 9-14-ish age range dressed just like her. My friend's 9-year old daughter got me up to speed by showing me some YouTube videos, which were corny but not offensive. I took a friend's daughter to see this show when my friend couldn't make it. I really was taken aback by the sexual overtones, the reenactment of her own birth, fawning over an 11 year old boy, and calling another audience member a wh*re. I won't go into extensive detail since other reviews give a pretty good idea of the content, but I just decided to go with it. I need to look that up - who is this uncle she keeps referring to and why did he give her handcuffs for her 9th birthday?? Oh wow....no. Nope. Too late now. Surely she knows her audience skews young...right? Cool! Ok! She's playing a character but.....really??? I get it - it's comedy. She has a huge following and while I understand this is her way of trying to impart a positive message to young girls, the delivery in this show could use some tweaking. The sad part about it is Colleen is a very attractive woman and an incredible singer but her show just goes way too far given her young fan base. I do think much of the adult content went over my companion's head because she would look at me with a quizzical....HUH???? after most of the jokes. I was also a little surprised (and grateful) that the show ended in 1 hour. $45 per ticket is a lot of money for a 1-hour show. She really could be a positive role model to anyone who feels like they don't fit in or have been picked on or bullied - "you be you and ignore the haters"!
